COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Together as one

Picture
Connected Schools aim to have a positive impact on the communities surrounding them. Not only is it part of the school's aspiration to foster responsible citizen, but it is an excellent opportunity, for instance, to help toward supporting pupils from disadvantaged background.

In such a case, offering evening classes to their parents thanks to the Workers Educational Association (UK) will mean that, as a consequence, their parents will be better equipped to help them with their homework.

Sections of the school’s facility are available to partners and to the community between 7pm and 10pm. Teachers and Learners are encouraged to donate some of their time to the partners delivering the evening courses.

Teachers, learners (Community in Action), parents & local university students (Part of their degree) will be encouraged to volunteer their time to the school.

The Community in Action program will be developed with the support of RISC (Reading International Solidarity Centre) in the UK.

It will be delivered on Fridays to incentive learners to keep volunteering their time (with their parents when they are young) over the week end.

The aim being to help them understand that they are members of the "Big Society" (UK) and influence their parents.
