SPECIFIC GOALS for all learners

Reading, counting, empathetic

Picture
To have strong literacy, numeracy and emotional skills by the end of Primary
(drama & world languages will be used as motivational catalysts)

Children need to learn, but given the importance of literacy and numeracy for their future as learners, they need to love learning. Sharing that love for learning is the reason why we decided to use drama and world languages to enrich their learning experiences throughout the curriculum.

With drama, each learner is involved in physical and mental games, role-plays, discussions, simulation and trust exercises, physical and mental warm up activities, as well as movement and dance work. That is what enables Drama to address areas such as the promotion of self-expression, the building of self-confidence, the enhancement of creativity and the encouragement of co-operation.

With world languages, each learner gets the opportunity to experience life as a member of a global community. The world gets smaller and smaller, and the ability to approach it with an open mind toward other people and other cultures is what the learning of foreign languages offer.

Independence and confidence

To be independent and confident learners by the end of Preparatory
(RSA Opening Minds Curriculum and its focus and competencies guarantee that outcome)

Once we are confident that our learners have mastered their literacy, numeracy and emotional skills, they will move on to developing the competencies that will be useful for the rest of their lives starting with passing their GCSEs with flying colours in Secondary School.

At least one local qualification, e.g. Baccalaureate

To get at least the English Baccalaureate (or local equivalent) by the end of Secondary
(Other GCSEs we will be available through the Diploma and partnership with local secondary schools)

Not everyone is fit for a prolonged academic-centred education. However, all learners have the ability to succeed academically up to their GCSEs, especially having gone through Preparatory School in a Connected School. Indeed, the knowledge they must acquire to obtain the English Baccalaureate (or equivalent) is the optimum amount all citizens should aspire to, to be valuable assets of their society, regardless of the route they decide to take next (apprenticeship, A level, International Baccalaureate, and so on in the UK)
